Yoga
My Yoga Journey
The world came to India to learn yoga, for me, it was the opposite. While I started practising asana in 2001 in India, my real learning began in the US when I went for my doctoral studies. I met my Guru Sri Dharma Mitra Dharma Yoga a disciple of Swami Kailashanand from Rishikesh (a contemporary and friend of Swami Sivananda) in New York City.
As a doctoral student, I never had money to pay for a yoga class let alone attend a yoga teacher training but a very generous studio owner not only encouraged me to teach yoga but also sponsored all my trainings! Even after a decade, I do not know what motivated the studio owner’s generosity because all I did was volunteer to clean the studio for 2 years!

After four years and three teachers’ training, a complete lifestyle change, becoming a vegan, months of special sattvic diet (with no salt, no sugar & no grains), and hours of daily practice, I began to feel something deep within was changing.
I was beginning to realize that I was on a path, a path that was unknown to me, a path that I had not planned for but I knew there was no going back. Yoga was coming to me. While a reluctant yoga teacher, deep down I knew I had to share these teachings. For nearly 8 years I taught free yoga (asana, meditation and yoga nidra) in diverse settings such as community centres, universities, Buddhist monasteries, NGOs and yoga studios to over 5,000 elderly, youth and children across the USA, Morocco and India.
My Qualifications: 800 Hours of Life of Yogi Teacher Training, Dharma Yoga, New York Center (May 2017) + 500 Hours of Life of a Yogi Teacher Training, Dharma Yoga, New York Center (May 2015) + 200 Hours of Yoga Teacher Training from Yoga District, Washington DC (February 2014)
Today I offer online programs on pranayama, meditation, yoga nidra and asana. I also do in-person sessions and retreats.
