Anupama Rammohan

Senior HR Consultant, India.

I have known Dr Smita Kumar for over 20 years now. An idealistic, intelligent, loyal and committed woman, she stood out among her contemporaries in the corporate jungle that we were both navigating. I’ve witnessed her transformation from a corporate executive to a yoga and mindfulness practitioner and teacher to a healer. I’ve watched with admiration as she faced the numerous challenges life threw her way with courage and grace and learned to heal herself.

I’ve attended her workshops on Pranayama, Yoga Nidra and Mindfulness and have benefitted from them. Thanks to those practices, I sleep better and live healthier.

To anyone who has or is struggling with any kind of pain – emotional or physical, I recommend Dr Smita.

I met Smita at Yoga District studio in Washington DC while I was a yoga student and “teacher “ in training.   Smita’s presence in class and meditation teaching brought me depth, sacredness and safety in her teachings.

I hope to reunite with this amazing Soul in another place closer to nature and God!

I recently embarked on a transformative journey through a 21-day Pranayama Yoga program, guided by my dedicated instructor from India Dr. Smita Kumar. This experience has left an indelible mark on my physical, mental, and spiritual well-being.  The virtual guidance Smita, who was based in India, provided was impeccable. Despite the geographical distance and nine and a half hour difference from New England, her expertise in Pranayama and her ability to convey the essence of this ancient practice transcended borders. Her deep knowledge and personal attention to my progress made the program highly effective. She was patient, responsive to queries, and adept at customizing the practice to suit the group’s specific needs and goals. I also experienced a private healing session with her.

Pranayama is renowned for its profound effects on the physical body, and over the 21-day program, I experienced noticeable improvements in various aspects of my health. My lung capacity expanded significantly, resulting in better endurance during physical activities. I also witnessed a reduction in muscle tension thanks to the relaxation techniques integrated into the program. While the benefits were tangible, Dr. Kumar cautioned us that it’s important to understand the transformations take time, and that continued practice beyond the program is essential for sustained results. As the days progressed, I found myself experiencing a heightened sense of clarity, focus, and emotional balance. Stress and anxiety seemed to melt away, and I felt more equipped to handle life’s challenges with equanimity. The daily breathing exercises served as a sanctuary of calm amidst the chaos of modern life, and I am genuinely grateful for the newfound mental resilience and inner peace I have acquired.

My belief in Smita’s methods is so unequivocal, that I gifted private sessions to friends and relatives.

Dr. Smita is a mindful, compassionate and skilled yoga practitioner and teacher. I have profoundly benefitted from her Pranayama sessions during my recovery after a Bone Marrow Transplant. Also, she has played a big role in creating videos to support patients going through a cancer journey after deep research, conversations with patients and survivors and a detailed need assessment. In short, Smita is a gentle healer, a mindful practitioner and a wonderful smiling soul.
